Workshop Programme
The Butterfly Project Workshop Programme is run each term during the academic year (i.e. for 39 weeks of the year). The workshops are based on consultation with young people and their families and are designed specifically for learners with learning difficulties. Each workshop caters for 5-6 young people and is facilitated by an experienced professional in the field.
The workshops are supported by an experienced Support Mentor whose role is to work directly with young people’s personal support assistant’s (PA’s) by providing ‘in-action’ training, advice and support where needed - with the aim of promoting young people’s independence and communication.
The workshop programme has included sessions in dance, drama, work awareness, yoga, music, sensory storytelling, art, rowing and football. We have worked in partnership with a number of different organisations to deliver these workshops including:
- First Line Supported Employment
- The Newham Music Academy
- The London Regatta Centre
- West Ham United Community Scheme
